Mission in Motion: Driving for Life began in 2022, to advocate nationally for both children and adults in desperate need of kidney transplants. This mission is deeply personal to us, as it was ignited by my own life-changing experience as a living kidney donor to 10-year-old Jessica Schwerin in 2013 at the University of Michigan. Her story, and the startling statistics around other children with kidney failure led me to establish KforK. Nearly 2000 American children desperately need kidney transplants, and thousands more are on dialysis. We believe it is a matter of awareness around living organ donation which prevents these thousands of children-and nearly 100,000 total patients-from receiving kidneys from living donors. Historically, one fifth of these patients will die while waiting for a kidney. This May 28th, I will embark on the 2nd Driving for Life trip-this time a 22 city-10,000-mile nationwide lifesaving journey, part of a mission I started two years ago. In each city I visit, I will have a Tv interview arranged for a family whose child needs a kidney transplant. Since I started this nationwide avocation in 2022, which became the non-profit Kidneys for Kids, we have been a part of 11 living kidney donations to children. We want to make that happen 100 times for 100 children. Lend your support today!
